Big Horn School District #2 is located in Lovell, Wyoming. It is nestled beneath the grandeur of the Big Horn Mountains on the East and the Pryor Mountains to the North. Our community has a population of about 2,600 residents and a school enrollment of 646 students. The schools and the activities associated with them are a major part of the social life of the community. There are several businesses, including the school district, that support the economic base of this community; North Big Horn Hospital, Big Horn School District #2, Western Sugar Company, GK Construction, Inc., Cetco/American Colloid, Bentonite Performance Minerals, Wyoming Bentonite Corporation, and Georgia Pacific Gypsum Corps., are the largest in the area. There are many farms and ranches outside the town of Lovell. Lovell is still a very agriculturally oriented economy. There are several government agencies that have offices in Lovell, i.e. Big Horn County Road and Bridge, Wyoming Department of Transportation, Wyoming Game and Fish, Wyoming National Guard, US Forest Service, and National Park Service, as well as local and county government agencies . The Wyoming Game and Fish, Forest Service, and National Park Service have formed a partnership with the Lovell High School to conduct research at the Yellowtail Habitat.
